• Set aside time on warm and sunny weekend - If you decide to take the door off its hinges or prop it up, you are going need to do it in proper weather. The best time of year to maximize your chances of a warm sunny weekend is to plan on painting your door in the Fall or Spring. Painting in a downpour or hot direct sunlight is not ideal, so keep your eyes peeled on the perfect weather opportunity and leave the weekend wide open. • Prep and paint - When that perfect weekend hits, be ready to start by either taking the door off its hinges or propping it up. For the best results, it is recommended to take the door down and laying it flat on top of an old sheet or tarp in the driveway or flat grass. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area. For a precision look, remove and replace hinges. Clean, sand, and prime the door to ensure a smooth texture. Paint wash section piece by piece using a brush or roller. Start early in the morning to give yourself plenty of time.
